The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 385 - Talent (2)

"Wait… is her health and stamina larger than the last time I checked?" Zaos frowned after he used Appraisal on Milliendra.

Zaos thought that perhaps it was time for Milliendra to have some training so she would not be an easy target. Still, he had planned to discuss that with Aleni before anything. However, it seemed that she had done something without talking with him. After hearing the question, Aleni stayed quiet for a while, but then she shrugged. Her acting skills needed some work… he couldn\'t understand why she kept that hidden.

"I am not criticizing you… at least not entirely," Zaos said. "But you should have talked with me about that. Millie is too young to learn anything related to direct combat. She should learn first the abilities that will grant her the power to avoid fights."

"I only taught her a few things that will make her less of an easy target for all kinds of enemies," Aleni said. "I didn\'t teach her how to actually kill someone… however, those who try to mess with her will have some unpleasant surprises."

Zaos was pretty curious to see what Aleni taught her, but in the end, he had the feeling that he shouldn\'t ask or even see it. It probably would be too much for his heart to see such a cute little angel doing something traumatizing for his eyes. Regardless, at least that conversation gave Zaos an idea… What if he, instead of teaching Milliendra spells, he made some magic tools that would have those effects for her?

Zaos couldn\'t help but wonder if he was being overprotective since actual skills would be more useful in the long run for Milliendra. However, he didn\'t want to see her dirtying her hands with blood at any moment.

"We don\'t know if that is possible, but maybe we should try to make Milliendra control her powers…" Zaos said. "I should be able to create a magic tool that will prevent her power from showing up, but I don\'t know for how long that will be possible. At this point in time, I am just delaying the unavoidable without finding a proper solution."

"Well… you are doing your best while doing something that no one has tried before," Aleni hesitated. "Besides, Millie is happy right now. So, we can\'t say that we are failing at raising her."

"… Thanks," Zaos said after frowning slightly. "Maybe if you try to be this nice often, someone will actually believe that you are my wife."

"I couldn\'t care less about what others think about us," Aleni said.

Zaos had been trying a number of things to cancel Milliendra\'s power. However, it was evident that those were growing stronger as well. Her focus proved that since she never had any amulet and her focus increased anyway. The magic tool might help, but it won\'t help forever. As for magic… Zaos didn\'t find or develop any spell that would benefit them regarding that. Since that was the case, Zaos was thinking of developing a new kind of magic that was completely different from the one used in that world. It seemed the only solution to the problem, but that was easier said than done…

The next day after breakfast, Zaos took Milliendra outside in order to test a few things regarding her power. First of all, he enveloped her in a Magic Barrier and then Protection. For some reason, her power to drain mana didn\'t activate to dispel those. Was it because those weren\'t harmful in any way? However, when he touched the barriers, Zaos\' mana still was drained…

"What are we doing, daddy?" Milliendra asked.

"I will explain to you later," Zaos said. "Let\'s play a game… you have to memorize those symbols and then draw them in your head."

Zaos drew the symbols of the Magic Barrier on the ground in order for Milliendra to learn it. While Milliendra was smart, she was barely three, so it would take a while for her to make any progress. Still, that was fine. Zaos had to study and research many other things, after all. However, much to his surprise, Milliendra activated Magic Barrier after a couple of seconds.

"Daddy, is this sparkly thing?" Milliendra asked while showing her hands being covered by the Magic Barrier.

"That is… what I wanted to teach you," Zaos said. "Whenever you feel in danger, you should draw those symbols in your head. But how did you memorize them so fast?"

"I didn\'t do it… I just did the same as daddy," Milliendra said.

The spell was simple and didn\'t have many symbols. Not to mention, the way Milliendra copied the symbols on the ground was quite messy. However, despite that, the spell still was activated… Was that one of the powers of the demon god granted to her?

Aleni approached and then confirmed her fears. Milliendra not only activated the spell, but her power to drain mana didn\'t decrease even a little bit. That was really worrisome… if she could learn spells that easily, then Zaos had to keep his magic book even more hidden than before. There was no telling if the demon god was planning to use that ability to revive himself faster.

"All right, Millie," Zaos said. "Now you will do this, meditate with me and tell me what you feel exactly after a while."

Milliendra naturally didn\'t understand what was going on, but just by copying Zaos, she managed to enter the meditation state. Zaos could feel that since her aura suddenly got calmer. As expected… With everything related to magic, Milliendra could learn extremely fast. Even Zaos development in that aspect couldn\'t be compared with. However, when he touched her forehead, he still felt his mana being drained… which was really troublesome. Still, it made Zaos realize that the extra mana was being converted to the status that was making her stronger.

"I really need to learn how to stop this once and for all…" Zaos furrowed his eyebrows.
