The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 282 - A Monster

The front line tried to keep up with Zaos\' speed, but they didn\'t imagine that he could move so fast while carrying a sword of that size. Even without the armor and the sword, it was supposed to be impossible for a human to be that fast. As if that wasn\'t crazy enough, Zaos killed ten soldiers and their horses, and no one even saw the movements of his sword.

"Holy shit…" Cohnal opened his eyes in shock and then muttered. "Did I fight against that?"

"No… that is the Captain when he uses his magic," Melisse said.

It wasn\'t time to talk, so they attacked the horsemen, who were surprised by Zaos\'s sudden appearance. Even when Melisse just scratched the horses, the animals fell down after moving to the side a couple of meters. That was the power of her sword. Meanwhile, Cohnal attacked the enemies who were about to react. However, he clenched his teeth since even though Zaos was in the middle of the enemies, the distance between them didn\'t decrease.

"Follow the Captain! If we can\'t do even that, we don\'t deserve to be the Bloody Knights!" Cohnal roared.

While his soldiers were trying to catch up, Zaos was slinging apart men and horses like he was a tornado made of swords. He didn\'t do anything fancy. He just moved his sword around from one side to the other and dashed forward without carrying if he was hitting anything or not. He didn\'t have time to check that because he would lose his momentum the time he did it.

Zaos figured out that if he takes out the first enemies of the formation and then keeps moving while using wind and earth magic to enhance his arms and legs, the enemies wouldn\'t have time to react since the horses would block the field of vision and only those really close would see him. Most soldiers use spears while they ride horses, and that wasn\'t a weapon that they could suddenly use if an enemy appeared close to them.

Zaos had taken down dozens of mercenaries before the first finally hit him with his spear. Since his black armor seemed pretty thick, the enemy aimed at his left arm, but in the end, it only scratched Zaos thanks to Earth magic. Before the mercenary could try again, Zaos split him in half.

The mercenaries didn\'t know what was wrong with Zaos since he wasn\'t stopping even after getting hit. So they tried to make him slow down by hitting his armor, but in the end, they didn\'t accomplish anything… not even scratched his armor.

After not so long, Zaos managed to pass through the line of riders and their horses. In front of him, he saw hundreds of foot soldiers and archers. His first instinct was to stop and then finish the riders. Even without their leaders, they could become a problem. However, Zaos recalled his own strategy. He had forgotten about it since he wasn\'t thinking straight and only wanted to defeat the enemies in front of him. So, without wasting time, he picked up the pace and dashed toward the enemies and ignored the fact that they were pointing their enemies toward him.

The horsemen tried to recover and split since they were being attacked from both sides. Without their formation, their horses were close to useless. Cohnal clicked his tongue when he saw that happening faster than he had expected. Those mercenaries were really experienced. However, Cohnal smiled once again because the horsemen didn\'t move all that much, and he began to hear the sound of arrows flying.

Zaos had decided to hit the archers a little further away because they would need to form an encirclement. Once they finally got close enough, they fired their arrows toward the riders and their horses without even worrying about aiming. They just needed to fire. They were bound to hit something, but they couldn\'t go too far because they could hit the melee fighters who were among them.

That surprised them once again and gave the melee fighters a perfect chance to attack the enemies from behind. Some more skilled riders managed to approach the archers and almost attacked them, but those got hit by Earth Arrows and were knocked senseless. Zaos divided the mages into two groups and put them among the archers to offer them back up in case that kind of situation took place, and it worked pretty well… for a while. Eventually, some mistakes were made, and archers began to get killed by the horsemen.

While that was taking place, Zaos was seeing blood rain over him. He decided to cause a ruckus among the foot soldiers because most of them had bows and crossbows, and he didn\'t want to let them use them. However, eventually, he forgot about the plan. He only had a single thing in mind… swing his sword toward the enemies like there was no tomorrow.

Zaos\' expression of anger was enough to freeze most of the mercenaries due to the bloodlust. Still, his expression of anger and exhaustion while covered in blood was on a whole new level.

"It is a monster!"

"Runaway from that freak!"

Zaos completely ignored the enemies. Even though he almost could hear his muscles and bones screaming due to the exhaustion in pain, he kept swinging his sword like there was no tomorrow. Zaos thought that just using magic to enhance his body would solve all his problems… he couldn\'t be more wrong.

Eventually, Zaos by himself even passed through the whole mercenaries army. He was exhausted and barely could raise his arm due to the fact that he probably ripped apart his muscles while swinging his sword for so long. Fortunately, that gave him enough time to look around and see all the mercenaries moving in all directions. There were thousands of them, and yet, they seemed like a bunch of scared kids. Zaos head finally cooled down, and reason returned to him. Once that happened, he couldn\'t help but feel some goosebumps. He could see that he ran for a couple of minutes in a straight line.. Still, in the path he crossed, he saw practically a river of blood and human bodies split in half… maybe the enemies were correct, and he was really a monster.
